The Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup mascot is officially called Fuleco.

Since the summer football tournament in Brazil has for aim to bring awareness about the environment and ecology, the cartoon armadillo’s name Fuleco comes as the result of a combination of two Portuguese words: football (futebol) and ecology (ecologia).
FIFA reported on its website that the name Fuleco was chosen after it got over 48% of the 1.7 million votes coming from Brazilians who participated in a poll.
Other names proposed were Zuzeco (31%) and Amijubi (21%).
